Skills: Percent · Estimation
What percent means
p% means p per 100. 8% of 250 is (8/100)×250 = 20. Moving a decimal is the same multiplication said faster. Do not call an unexplained shortcut Vedic or magical.
Estimate then compute
19% of 400 is near 20% = 80. The exact value is 76. If a bill shows 800, an extra zero slipped. Continue in /courses/mathematics-fundamentals.
