The core idea
In base ten, each place is ten times the place to its right. 305 means 3 hundreds, 0 tens, 5 ones. Vedic or mental shortcuts that skip this picture will fail on 1005 versus 105. This course explains the reason first; later courses may show speed methods without hiding the place-value engine.
