A sentence needs a job

Module 1 — Clear sentences · A sentence needs a job

A sentence needs a job

General · Learn → Example → Practice → Check

What you will learn

  • Subject + verb
  • Finish the thought
  • Do not paste Hindi order blindly

What will you learn?

Fragments confuse teachers and customers: 'Regarding fees yesterday.'

The core idea

A basic English sentence names who or what (subject) and what happens (verb). 'The shop opens at 9.' is a sentence. 'At 9 in the morning' is not. Hindi word order is often different; translating word-for-word creates English that no reader can act on. This course uses simple classroom English. It is not a CEFR certificate.

Key points

  • Subject + verb
  • Finish the thought
  • Do not paste Hindi order blindly

Example

Weak: 'About the PDF.' Strong: 'I attached the PDF.'

Caution

• Starting every mail with 'Respected sir/madam wishing you happy morning' and never stating the request

Try this

  1. Turn 'yesterday fee' into a full sentence.

Practice

Turn 'yesterday fee' into a full sentence.

Question 1

Which is a complete sentence?

Summary

Please send the receipt names the action and the object.
